Add Some Red Grapefruit to Your Diet to Burn Calories

While there is some difference of opinion on the benefits of red grapefruit as a dietary aide, most nutritional experts agree the fruit contains fat-burning enzymes that not only help a person lose weight but will also allow someone at normal weight to maintain their weight. For many years people have followed the grapefruit diet which consists of consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice at every meal. Manufacturers of diet supplements have even developed a capsule for those people who are averse to eating red grapefruit in its natural form. In spite of the disbelief many people have in the weight loss capabilities of red grapefruit, there are just as many who will swear by its fat-burning qualities.

For those who are trying to lose weight, the typical diet consists of consuming half a red grapefruit at each meal. For those times it may not be possible to have fresh grapefruit, you can have an eight ounce glass of red grapefruit juice. You can freshly squeeze the juice at home and take it with you to work, school or anywhere else you may wish to consume it. When you are eating in a restaurant, you may not have an option to eat grapefruit or drink the juice; even restaurants that serve grapefruit juice may not have red grapefruit juice or any other variety of unsweetened grapefruit juice. For those times you may find it necessary to carry an insulated container of red grapefruit juice in your car for later consumption instead of waiting until you return home later in the evening.

If you carry your lunch to work or school you can cut some sections of red grapefruit and carry them in a plastic bag. You can also consume the red grapefruit sections as a morning or mid-afternoon snack instead of choosing other high-calorie snacks. Even if you do not have a weight problem, choosing a snack of red grapefruit is far better than a candy bar. For that late afternoon run-down feeling you can drink a glass of grapefruit juice along with an equal quantity of lemon juice flavored with a small amount of honey.
